We talk all things Jazzercise (yes, you read that right), “designer snacks” and challenges with integrating fluoride into a pediatric office.
Dr. MacLean talks about her service trips out of the country, the joys of seeing her patients grow up, watching “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” while working and bringing in the comedy to dentistry.
We discuss the indications for referral to a pediatric dentist, ways to improve the pediatric patient experience, looking at unique “parenting” styles and how to chat with an anti-fluoridationists.
She throws down on minimally invasive dental procedures: diet & hygiene counselling, motivational interviewing and reducing trauma during the dental appointment. She shares what’s trending right now in pediatric dentistry, specifically SDF and Glass Ionomer.
If you haven’t read an article she’s written or heard her speak before, you’re missing out! Check out Dr. Jeanette MacLean: Dr. Jeanette MacLean is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, owner of Affiliated Children’s Dental Specialists in Glendale, Arizona, and mother of two. She received her dental degree, with honours, from the University of Southern California in 2003 and completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry in 2005 at Sunrise Children’s Hospital through the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Dr. MacLean has become an internationally recognized advocate and expert on minimally invasive dentistry, appearing in newspapers, magazines, television, and continuing education lectures on this hot topic. Most notably, she was featured in the July 2016 New York Times article “A Cavity Fighting Liquid Helps Kids Avoid Dentists’ Drills,” which brought national attention to the option of treating cavities non-invasively with silver diamine fluoride.
